I Was Anastasia

Thank you to everyone who attended Barron Public Library’s Book Club Discussion! The book featured for the September 2021 Book Club is I Was Anastasia by Ariel Lawhon.
The conversation about this book was very interesting. Participants discussed their preexisting knowledge of Anastasia Romanov and Anna Anderson; most were unfamiliar with the specifics of their lives and suggested that not knowing that made the story more fulfilling because they did not know what was going to happen. The uniqueness of this book had readers conflicted on whether or not they enjoyed having the story told from two different perspectives in opposing chronological order.
Figuring out the mystery if Anna was Anastasia kept readers eagerly invested in the story and participants overall were fans of this book. Be sure to check out the next Book Club selection and join us for a discussion at 5PM the last Thursday of each month.
