October Book Club Discussion: The Year of the Witching
Thank you to everyone who attended Barron Public Library’s Book Club Discussion! The book featured for the October 2021 Book Club is The Year of the Witching by Alexis Henderson. There was a lively discussion about the role families play in the novel, particularly the role (and absence) of the mother of the main character, Immanuelle. Participants commented on the elitist attitudes of those who reside in Bethel compared to the people of the Outskirts and the significance of the seals that married women in Bethel wear contrasted to modern day wedding rings. Readers were intrigued with the journey Immanuelle takes and look forward to reading more in the upcoming sequel, The Dawn of the Coven. Be sure to check out the next Book Club selection and join us for a discussion
